For these illustrations a small portable CB is used and a stick made out of wood. If the stick is replaced by a human hand the readings will also occur when the meter is set to Electric. It has been said that this human movement can be detected through walls but I have no indication that this is true. The EM meter seems to have a limited range. There is also a SUM setting on the meter. This will read the combination of both Electric and Magnetic. This is the position that Ghost hunters use in their exploits.

The rotating button is set to Magnetic and if nothing enters the field there is no reading on the meter. |
With the button still on Magnetic a small CB antenna is moved across the meter and the transmit button of the CB is pushed. The meter maxes out. |

With the rotating button still on Magnetic a stick is moved across the meter and nothing happens. The is the same for a hand moving across the meter. |
With the rotating button now set to Electric and we move the stick across the meter you see that we get a reading. |
