BERLIN -
The 1920's brought Berlin out of the inflation era and the entertainment venues experienced an economic boom. The serious productions of the past became more entertaining. However, they became even more mild after 1933 where anything that was not happy and cheerful was considered depraved. In 1939 Robert Ley opened the House of Beauty Culture. He stressed that "beauty" and "new" were not synonymous. He had gotten his cue from Hitler in a 1933 rally where he said that "unprecedented" did not indicate quality but is as likely to indicate "unprecedented inferiority". Hitler had also indicated this in his mention of Futurism, Cubism and Dadaism in Mein Kampf. In essence it meant that with the rise of Nazi Germany in the 1930's the decline of creativity began. There is no other way that this can be seen. We can then make a formula (with the rise of a powerful state comes the decline of creativity in civilization) The formula can then be reversed and it will read (with the decline of creativity in civilization there is a powerful state). An interesting note is that at some venues the customers wore mask (Lone Ranger type) while watching nude dancers. This was because the customers were afraid to be publicly identified.

| The mine .............The
mine............The canaries whine.......They do not sing...........They do
not fly.........Deep......Deep.......In the mine........The
miners.........The miners........Sing their song.......Crying for the
sun.......Singing with the pick.......Deep in the mine..........Down, down,
down............Other bugs.......Crawling on higher ground...........Working
their life.......For the family they love........Making the
monuments.......For the owners above......Forcing the
miner...........Deeper, deeper deep.....In the cold........Without a
break........Without sleep........Their life away......For the family they
love.......Building the monuments .....For the owners above.....More and
more monuments......Forcing the miners ......Deeper, deeper, deep.....Deep
in the mine......Down, down, down.......Other bugs.....On higher
ground.......For ever and ever......Digging, deeper, deeper deep.......Till
the canaries stop......And the miners sleep...... For a thousand years.....and a thousand more........The species cried.......The monuments stood.......The workers died.....One day.....The gray dust blew.....The towers fell......Fire from the sky......Instead of hell.....Now the monuments......Rust and dust.....The species at its best.....The miners sleep......And the workers rest...... |

Dayton had the standard dance companies and schools as well as their Dayton Ballet. The unconventional avant-garde artists/dancers broke away and found their own individual venues. This is Holly Price performing at the College Hill Town Hall in Cincinnati Ohio. |
