ART MAGIC, or Mundane, Sub-Mundane and Super-Mundane SPIRITISM was published in Chicago, Ill. by Progressive Thinker Publishing House, in 1898. It is essentially a major Occult manual of the time. It has major sections on the major spiritualist recognized as significant at that time. An example is HEPTAMERON, OR MAGICAL ELEMENTS OF PETER D'ABANO where detailed drawings of spirit calling (circles??) are printed. Here is a page about the American movement of 1876. It also has an elaborate section on the HISTORY OF MAGNETISM and Mesmer. The study of these one hundred plus year old text is a great flaw in the knowledge of today's intellectual community. It is not that they should go back to Mesmerism but they would have a much more accurate view of where we came from as a civilization and a culture. For many years I have stated that Civilization, as we practice it, died at the end of the nineteenth century. A new one should have emerged but it didn't. The wars just became more violent and faith based spiritualism (Religions of the World) just became more intensified as evolution was rejected.
